The Rogers Paper Manufacturing Company was founded in Manchester, Connecticut, by Dutch immigrant Peter Rogers in 1832. Due to ill health, Rogers transferred the business to his 19 year old son, Henry Ellsworth Rogers. Theelder Rogers died in 1841. Henry Rogers improved the paper-making process and expanded the business from one mill to a complex of factories. In addition, he discovered a method for recycling used paper by using a bleach to remove the ink. The process was never patented, however...
